Ugenya deserves leadership that listens, plans and delivers. Our people deserve a leader who understands their daily struggles and is prepared to work tirelessly to provide practical solutions. Development should not be measured by speeches, but by the quality of life enjoyed by ordinary citizens. The people of Ugenya deserve access to clean water, quality healthcare, meaningful education, reliable infrastructure, opportunities for employment, support for vulnerable families and an economy that enables every household to prosper. Ugenya Manyien is a commitment to servant leadership, accountability and inclusive development. It is a promise to ensure that every village, every household and every generation benefits from meaningful and sustainable progress. --- 1. WATER FOR EVERY HOUSEHOLD Water is life. No family should walk long distances in search of safe drinking water. My administration will work with the National Government, County Government, development partners and water agencies to ensure that every part of Ugenya has reliable access to clean and safe water. Our commitments - Construct boreholes in strategic locations across the constituency. - Expand community water projects and piped water systems. - Rehabilitate and modernize existing water infrastructure. - Protect rivers, springs and wetlands through community conservation initiatives. - Promote rainwater harvesting in schools, health facilities and public institutions. - Establish community water management committees to ensure sustainability. - Support irrigation projects to increase agricultural productivity. Our goal: Every household in Ugenya should have access to clean, safe and affordable water. --- 2. QUALITY HEALTHCARE WITH DIGNITY Healthcare is a right, not a privilege. No mother should lose her life while giving birth because a health facility lacks equipment. No patient should travel long distances for basic treatment. We shall work to: - Improve and equip health facilities across the constituency. - Advocate for construction and upgrading of health centres. - Ensure consistent supply of essential medicines. - Improve maternal and child healthcare. - Strengthen emergency medical services and ambulance access. - Support Community Health Volunteers through training and facilitation. - Promote preventive healthcare, sanitation and public health education. - Advocate for improved staffing and better working conditions for healthcare workers. - Support programmes addressing mental health and non-communicable diseases. - Promote early screening and treatment of common illnesses. Every child deserves an opportunity to learn, develop their talents and prepare for a productive future. Our education agenda - Improve classrooms, laboratories and sanitation facilities. - Expand bursary programmes to support needy students. - Improve Early Childhood and Primary School learning environments. - Strengthen secondary schools through better infrastructure. - Expand and modernize TVET institutions. - Promote digital literacy and innovation among learners. - Establish community digital libraries. - Equip public libraries with modern learning resources. - Strengthen mentorship programmes for learners. - Promote entrepreneurship education and career guidance. - Link education with employment opportunities and industrial skills. Establishment of a Public University in Ugenya Education must not stop at secondary school or technical training. Ugenya deserves a public university that will serve as a centre of higher learning, innovation, research and economic transformation. I will champion the establishment of a Public University in Ugenya through collaboration with the National Government, the Ministry of Education, the Commission for University Education and other relevant stakeholders. The university will: - Increase access to affordable university education for students from Ugenya and neighbouring constituencies. - Create employment opportunities for lecturers, researchers, administrators and support staff. - Promote research and innovation that addresses local challenges in agriculture, health, business and technology. - Support youth entrepreneurship through incubation and innovation hubs. - Attract investment and stimulate growth of businesses, housing, transport and hospitality. - Partner with industries, TVET institutions and international universities to enhance skills and research. - Position Ugenya as a regional centre of excellence in higher education. Our belief: A university in Ugenya is not merely an institution—it is an investment in our future, our economy and our people. --- 4. PROTECTING THE VULNERABLE A caring society protects those who need support the most. Every child deserves hope, every elderly person deserves dignity and every vulnerable family deserves an opportunity to rebuild their lives. We shall champion - Support for teenage mothers returning to school. - Educational sponsorship for vulnerable learners. - Psychosocial support for orphans and vulnerable children. - Community programmes protecting children from abuse and exploitation. - Strong partnerships with churches, NGOs and community organizations. - Support for persons living with disabilities. - Programmes supporting senior citizens. - Skills training and economic empowerment for vulnerable households. - Community counselling and family support initiatives. No one should be left behind. --- 5. AGRICULTURE—THE HEART OF UGENYA Agriculture remains the backbone of Ugenya's economy. Our farmers feed our families and sustain our local economy. They deserve support that enables them to increase productivity and earn better incomes. Our commitments - Facilitate timely access to subsidized fertilizers and quality farm inputs. - Improve agricultural extension services. - Train farmers on climate-smart agriculture. - Promote irrigation and water harvesting for farming. - Support mechanization of agriculture. - Promote value addition and agro-processing. - Encourage farmer cooperatives. - Improve access to affordable agricultural credit. - Connect farmers to government programmes and development partners. - Promote modern technologies that increase yields while protecting the environment. - Strengthen livestock production and fisheries. - Improve market access through better roads and market infrastructure.
